Beginning
BourgeaTEA was started in 2008 by Chris Bourgea as a way to provide quality tea to the students of his university campus. Chris was unsatisfied with the tea of the local coffee café and began an initiative to find the best loose leaf tea, specifically for the people around him. He began to make tea bags by hand and sold them to the local café and to a growing group of fans around his university campus. Now he sells to multiple cafés, to individual tea drinkers, and online. But BourgeaTEA has never lost the vision of challenging the way people think about tea and its emphasis towards college students and living well.
Vision
The vision of the company is to change the persona of tea from its stigma as a drink for older ladies in fluffy hats and young girls at tea parties to its splendor as an amazing, flavorful resource for all those who need something spectaculicious to drink. Throw yo’ pinkie up and let the TEA revolution begin!
Initiative
Created with a mind for quality and for those in need, BourgeaTEA has several charitable initiatives in the works. Charity TEAS is one such initiative where Chris creates a unique and specific blend of tea for a worthy company that helps others.
If you’re reading this now, you know that BourgeaTEA has extended to the world wide web for the convenience of its customers and fans. This is a great step for the company as it seeks to reach out to more people and places in its quest to change the stereotype of tea.
BourgeaTEA has sold over 15,000 hand-assembled tea bags and is looking to automate the process so that it can better serve all of the wants of the people who buy and love BourgeaTEA. But paramount to this expansion is finding a way of automation that doesn’t compromise the quality of the tea. Headway is still coming along and everyone at BourgeaTEA is hopeful that something may be produced within the next year.
